How human composting works in Arizona
Human composting, also called soil transformation, natural organic reduction, or terramation, is a 45-day process that turns a body into stable, life-supporting soil. During that time, your loved one rests in a proprietary vessel filled with natural materials that gently support their return to the earth.
When the process is complete, our Care Team will talk with you about how much soil you’d like to receive and what feels right for your family.
In 2024, the Grand Canyon State legalized human composting as a climate-conscious option. For many Arizonans, it’s a way to respond to a changing climate while caring for the deserts, rivers, and forests they love.
