How human composting works in Maryland
Human composting, also called soil transformation, natural organic reduction, or terramation, is a 45-day process that turns a body into nutrient-rich soil. Your loved one rests in a proprietary vessel with natural materials while the transformation takes place.
Upon completion of the process, our Care Team will help you choose how much soil you would like returned or donated to local and regional conservation initiatives.
The Old Line State became the ninth state to legalize human composting, creating a new path for families who want an authentic, meaningful return to soil that aligns with their care for the planet’s health for future generations.
