For the same reasons, we chose earth ourselves. That is, the environmental advantage, the ability to have our family relieved from the pressure of dealing with a traditional funeral and the cost of Earth versus the other kinds of funeral services.

Everything about Earth was perfect for me! It started with the concept itself (which I bumped into quite accidentally while researching limitations about scattering cremation ashes!). I'd never heard of soil transformation and the idea settled in my heart and made itself right at home. It instantly fit and I never looked back. Returning myself to nature and actually helping to improve the earth appealed at a very instinctual level. Add to that the staff (Sarah was amazing!), who were caring but never pushy, who gave me all the time I needed to ruminate and took care of getting my questions answered almost before I asked them! I decided to buy the package and my husband kind of surprised me by deciding he wanted to do the same. There were no afterthoughts ... just comfort and peace. An amazing experience all the way around.

We believe it is practical and a dignified way to be returned to the earth.

Every person I spoke to was so nice and helpful and answered all my questions. I was kept in the loop as the process progressed and that was very nice. I did not have to worry about anything. I was very pleased with everything.

It just makes sense in today’s world

From the minute I saw the information on your service I knew this was perfect for us. I did not want us to end up sitting in an urn in some oddball place, or with a family member that has know idea who we are. This was easy to set up for our future need and is much better for the enviornment than other options. We will not be taking up any space that could be used for something better. Will not require on going care by a grounds keeper and who knows, maybe someday a bear may poop on us. Not everyone can say that. This is the best option to come along in years. I think everyone should be doing this.

The staff at Earth Funeral was very helpful in answering any and all questions that I had. This is a very environmentally sound way to decompose a body and only one of two companies offering this in California. They have policies in place that I’d never thought of: if there IS no body (fire, lost at sea), they reimburse any money paid. Plus they have travel insurance to get your body to one of their facilities if you die while traveling. Seems like a sound company.

Kevin, really helped me out a lot. He took the time to explain things on my level. He made me feel very confident in my decision to go with earth. The rest of the staff that I worked with was wonderful. I’ve already told several friends and they sound very interested in looking into your program.

Losing one's life partner is incredibly difficult. For some of us, the added thought of having that person's final legacy to be the release of excessive CO2 or toxic chemicals is simply unbearable. That's the reason to go to a company like Earth Funeral. The staff was kind, sympathetic and extremely helpful in explaining how the process works. We had to jump through a few hoops--not because of Earth Funeral, but because this service is not available in Illinois (I will be fighting to change that), and she had the temerity to pass during the holidays. In the end, transportation to Washington State went without a hitch and the love of my life will become part of the soil on the Olympic Peninsula, where we spent many happy years. I highly recommend Earth Funeral.

This week I completed my arrangements with Earth Funerals. For several years I have been trying to find a way to compost my body legally, Earth made this so easy. We come from the soil, Earth lets us return to the soil and in the process regenerate the soil.

Earth was great to work with and handled pretty much everything for us from beginning until end. They were very flexible with us picking up the entire amount of soil despite delays on our end. Because I think this method should be standard. I find traditional burial disgusting and cremation worse. I have been composting my pets and farm animals for several years (though apparently I should not). It is clean and fast and often I plant a tree when it is completed and goodness knows we need more trees!

One of the hardest decisions as a parent has been deciding how to handle our precious 7 year old daughter after she passed from cancer. We found out about earth funeral through a Google search, our family knew this was the direction for us. Earth was in constant communication. Even while my daughter was on hospice and the days leading up to needing their services. We always felt informed and like our daughter was in the best hands. Our daughter loved being in nature or going to the wildlife refuge, those memories we will always cherish. We loved the idea of her remaining soil going to help conservation projects. And being able to share her with the world. Like a part of her will always live on. If anyone asks we tell them how easy and patient earth funeral was, how helpful and compassionate they were to our needs and what we were going through. Death is a natural part of life and I'm sure we will be using them again.

My daughter picked this company because she didn't want to be cremated or buried in a box. She wanted to give back to the planet. We set everything up online, which was very simple. Unfortunately, a week later she passed away. I made a phone call and they took care of the rest. They communicated with us throughout the entire process. When we received her soil/remains, we planted a saguaro cactus on top of her remains, just like she wanted. I can't stress enough how helpful Earth Funeral was. Finding a cremation option that was not harmful to the environment was the only option when my husband unexpectedly passed. Unfortunately, I had to look outside of Michigan as terramation/soil transformation is not an option here, but I'm so thankful I found Earth. While the biggest benefit of Earth is a sustainable cremation option, the Earth team also surpassed my expectations with their customer service. Being out of state I had a lot of questions about transfer and process of sending my husband for their care. From the first phone call to after we received his soil to make sure we stored or cared for his soil in the best way possible they've been amazing. Extra plus was their partnership with One Tree Planted as that's an organization my partner also supported.
