See why families choose Earth
We take great pride in going above and beyond for the families we serve. But donβt take our word for it β take theirs.

My husband died a couple months ago. Today we spread his compost remains in our garden. It was a precious and moving occasion; one he would have approved since we have him close and he's giving back to the earth with himself. "

I wanted an alternative method of burial, one that would be more Eco friendly. Itβs not important to me to be memorialized with a gravestone or placed in a mausoleum. I love the idea of being returned to Mother Earth in a more natural way.

This winter I learned about Earth funerals, wrote them and called them and drove to their facility to check them out - at their invite. Being an avid teacher of environmental concerns, Earth funerals fit right into how I feel our remains should be returned to the matrix from which it came. To use my used up physical self to bring life to others - tiny though they may be, is absolutely perfect. I carry my card wherever I go - even on my body when hiking. I highly recommend going this direction who is interested in Leaving No Trace at our end of life.

The option to have our remains converted into compost, rather than ash by cremation or bones by traditional burial is the only reasonable option given the fact that the process requires nearly zero energy emissions, unlike cremation, and results in giving life to organic matter should the soil be used to restore a forest and/or a garden owned by a loved one. And the cost is affordable compared to traditional costs of burial at a licensed cemetery. Moreover, your staff is extremely competent in handling our questions and providing insight into the whole process, let alone explaining the benefits to our environment by electing to revert our remains into compost.

Our experience to-date with Earth (gathering information about Earth, communicating with Earth via e-mail and phone, visiting with John and touring the the Auburn Earth facility, and completing our sign-up paperwork online) has been exemplary. However, we have had no need to utilize Earth's services to-date, which will be for us and our loved ones the most important aspect of our Earth experiences.

First of all, the process fits what I feel is the best green option for my burial. After visiting the establishment and seeing how the process was accomplished, I was even more convinced. We had a great experience with Earth. We had learned of composting when it was first approved in Washington State and reached out when we learned it was approved here in Oregon. All of our questions were answered, both with the process and with the financing. The process was clearly the most earth-friendly, both from the reduction in climate changing releases and in reducing the space required to dispose of our remains. The financing met our desire to pre-pay with no risk the funding won't be there when needed. Most important Earth takes care of all arrangements. None of our children or grandchildren need to deal with permits, transportation and the like. None of them will feel a need to have their lives disrupted for a funeral; all of them can have input on scheduling a visitation to the Olympic Peninsula for a family gathering.

They were so caring and kind throughout the entire process. My husband died suddenly and we had no arrangements made. They answered all my questions even when I repeated myself. The process does take time and you can select none, some, or all of the soil. When you pick it up remember, it is compost and smells accordingly. I had always thought being buried in a box seemed odd. And I had no idea the quantity of resources used in cremation. I plan to use their services as well. It just seems like the best way to complete this journey on earth.
