Nancie was born in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of three children to parents Nat and Ida Irwin. Nancie lived in San Jose since 1974 and took on law school soon after, at age 40. She made a name for herself building her own practice as a family-law specialist -- which suited her nicely, as she loved to put her energy towards helping others. As an attorney, Nancie was also active in local Bar Assoc. activities such as Family Law Executive Committee, Education Committee, and has had articles published in legal magazines.
She was a staunch supporter of feminist issues.
Nancie was devoted to sailing, gardening, drawing, San Jose Taiko (Japanese drumming org), and was an avid reader (and an active member in two book clubs!) She absolutely loved comedy and music, and language (and crosswords). She was a world traveler and also lived in Oaxaca, Mexico for two years prior to arriving in California. She hated cilantro.
Within her community, she was involved with Naglee Park Beautification Committee cleaning up litter in the neighborhood, and activities such as Coffee in the Park, Bark in the Park, to list a few. She was a supporter of many charities including Second Harvest of Silicon Valley which
