Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth

Jason Matthew Knittel, born on July 12, 1983, in Tempe, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2025, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was the cherished son of George Knittel and Sheila Donnan (some would say the favorite) and the beloved younger brother of Trina Young, Tricha Young, Josh Knittel, and Tracie Knittel and longtime boyfriend of Amy Riley. Known affectionately as Jay or JJ, Jason was a radiant presence, a warm ray of sunshine in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His quick wit, infectious humor, and heart of gold left an indelible mark on family and friends alike. To say Jason lived life to the fullest would hardly capture the vibrancy of his spirit. He embraced each day as an adventure, whether he was charting a well-worn path or veering onto the road less traveled, always savoring it as part of “the experience of life.” A creative soul and industrious entrepreneur, Jason explored a wide array of passions and professions. From crafting intricate woodworking pieces to teaching others the art of surfing, he poured his energy into every endeavor. He owned a small business, penned novels, and approached each pursuit with the same boundless enthusiasm that defined him. Jason’s love for the natural world was woven into his hobbies and daily joys. He found peace in surfing, camping, and hiking, often surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors. At home, he delighted in the company of his cats and his pet squirrel, their playful antics a perfect match for his spirited nature. Ever the dreamer, Jason was rarely without plans for his next great trip, eager to explore new horizons. Jason Matthew Knittel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fearless living. To his family and countless friends, he was a sweet son, brother, partner and a loyal companion, and an unforgettable light. We love you, Jay, and we all miss you dearly
