Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth

David was born on September 14, 1959 in San Diego, CA to Anita and Joe Aguilar. He was the youngest of 5 children, with older sisters Rosie, Joann, Rita, and a brother Philip. The family moved to Lakeside when he was 5, where he enjoyed an active outdoor childhood filled with sports, family, and friends. In high school he loved playing football and remained friends with many of his teammates and coaches from El Capitan throughout his life. After high school he had jobs such as dishwasher and produce worker at a grocery store. He realized that he was not meant to work for other people, so he became self employed and created Pro Lawn Care by age 25 and specialized in lawn aeration. He had a gift for talking to anyone and was a natural for promoting ideas he believed in. David was also a person who never gave up once he decided to do something. He steadily built a solid business that ran for 40 years with many loyal customers. Dave loved watching the real estate market, and through the years made multiple moves to benefit his family. He organized the building of 3 houses and an ADU. He learned about construction as he went, and loved a good project. He also achieved his dream, in his last 14 years, of (mostly) passive income. He relentlessly searched and found first a mobile home park, then sold it and bought his ultimate dream, an RV Park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was his passion, and he was very proud to create a legacy for his family. David and Nanci met in 1991 and married in 1994. After meeting at Baxter’s in El Cajon, their first date was a Super Bowl party at his house. They just celebrated their 30th anniversary in April! David's biggest joy in life was being a father. Everywhere he went, he loved to tell everyone about his kids. They made him so proud. His son, Eli, is almost 26. He shares his dad's love of surfing and the beach. His daughter Andi is 22. She shares her dad’s love of music and getting to know the people around her. He taught them many things by example, such as never giving up on something you really want, loyalty, solid money skills, and the value of networking. In his twenties, David acted as a father to Megan in a previous relationship. Although she was not his daughter by blood, he always truly loved her, and it was a great gift to him in his final days to reconnect and discover that it was mutual. Dave's favorite things were the beach, kiteboarding, swimming, football, music, talking to people, being outside, the mountains, nature, driving his car, looking for real estate deals, surfing, wakeboarding, eating healthy, and smoothies. David was a unique, outgoing soul who was unforgettable to those who knew him. His passionate storytelling, enthusiasm, and “get it done” nature will be greatly missed. He did not always understand social norms but still had a great heart for everyone. This made David a one of a kind person who touched many lives and left countless memories to treasure. To honor his love of the outdoors, David’s body will become part of the earth through the process of soil reclamation.

Leave the earth with beauty

Earth specializes in soil transformation, an environmentally-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. Over a 45-day process, we gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil. We then send this soil to our local conservation land where it’s used for restoration projects such as reforestation and nourishing challenged ecosystems.
