Avery Jae Hartley passed away at Kaiser Sunnyside ICU at 4:00 Wednesday afternoon on 2-21-2024 after being on life support since Saturday 2-17-2024. Paramedics had found him unresponsive, restarted his heart and rushed him to Kaiser Hospital Emergency. Avery struggled with drug addiction throughout his life, ending as a victim of fentanyl poisoning. Avery was born at home in Irrigon, Oregon 5-4-1980 and spent his first 8 years growing up there. He also attended schools in Milwaukie and Oregon City, Oregon. While working in his stepfather’s orchid business at Waldport, Oregon, from 1999-2005, he met Stacy Wood, the mother of their son. Avery spent much of his work life in greenhouses and had a love for organic growing methods. He is survived by his son, Avery Jae Hartley Junior, 19, his stepdaughter, Kasey Wood, his father, Calvin (Brad) Hartley, his mother, Connie Neilson, his brother, Skyler Hartley and his sister, Maia Paul. Avery is lovingly remembered by his family, including many cousins and aunts and uncles.
