Vern Hasz passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest on January 8th, 2025. Vern was born in New Jersey, to parents Eleanor and Vernon Hasz, and raised in Southern California where he spent half his life. He has lived in the Pacific Northwest for the last 35 years. He was a talented computer hardware engineer who loved his social life. His intuitive understanding of electromechanics enabled him to fix anything, from engines to radios, sprinkler systems, computers and everything in between. His knowledge and abilities in the engineering field were amazing, and he was always the first person to offer a helping hand to friends. Vern was an active member of the Sahalie Ski Club for over 30 years where he served multiple terms as president. He loved fast cars, tinkering, ham radio, skiing, camping, BBQing on the deck, and spending time boating on Lake Sammamish. Vern was happiest surrounded by friends and family. Vern is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure, camping trips, and traveling all over North America and Europe. The two met in Southern California where they were both pioneers in the early days of computer technology. Vern is also survived by his three children: Chris (Lindsay), Andrew, and Rebecca, and his grandchildren Julia, Logan, and Jack. His twinkling eyes and commanding mustache will be sorely missed.
