Linda Mackey Stude March 14, 1949 – March 4, 2025 Linda Stude was born March 14, 1949 in Warren, Ohio to parents Neal Mackey and Donnah Lenhart Mackey. She attended local schools in Warren graduating from Warren Harding High School before attending Ohio Wesleyan University where she demonstrated her academic excellence by graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a teaching credential majoring in French and German. Following graduation she taught in Moon Township, PA for 9 years before she decided to move to California. Utilizing her excellent managerial, detail orientation and accouting skills Linda worked in several jobs before taking a position with the LA County Bar Foundation as Administrator. On a ski trip in spring of 1982, Linda met Carl Stude, who became her love and partner for the next 43 years. They married in December 1983 and established a home in North Hollywood where they would reside until her passing. Linda was a lifetime athlete, playing tennis for most of her life and recently transitioning to pickleball. She and Carl enjoyed skiing, back packing, kayaking, caving and bicycling. Linda loved music and was an accomplished piano player and harpist. Her devotion to animals was profound and at one time she and Carl shared their home with many adopted cats. She extended her generosity to many animal-related charitable organizations as well as, funding scholarships at OWU. As a friend, Linda was empathetic, generous and loving. She was also a superb organizer and was instrumental in establishing the Senior Women’s Classic Tennis Tournament, which became a WTA sanctioned event for 12 years and raised funds for women’s breast cancer screening. On March 3, 2025, Linda suffered a fatal brain hemorrhage on the pickleball court surrounded by many friends. Per her wishes, Linda became an organ donor. Besides her loving husband, Carl, Linda leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her and long remember her.

Leave the earth with beauty

Earth specializes in soil transformation, an environmentally-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. Over a 45-day process, we gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil. We then send this soil to our local conservation land where it’s used for restoration projects such as reforestation and nourishing challenged ecosystems.
