Lesley Louise Gavin (nee Anderson), passed away peacefully in the early morning on January 8, 2025, after just turning 72 years old. Lesley was born on December 2nd, 1952, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Kenneth and Shirley Anderson. She spent her early years in Canada, until the family decided to move to the United States to Arizona. This is where Lesley would spend the majority of her life, living in various cities, including Payson, Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe. She eventually met Scott Giltz, and they married in 1983. Four years later, she gave birth to their first daughter Megan, and then their second daughter Kelsey shortly after. When the girls were young, they decided to move north to Washington, where they settled in the small town of Camas. On top of being a stay-at-home mother throughout their school years, Lesley was also an active member in the community. She served on Camas City Council for many years and was President of the Benton Street Neighborhood Association. She also later on worked as a paraprofessional in special education and was adored by the students. She volunteered regularly at the girls’ schools, the infamous Camas Days parades, and even had her own antique spots in Downtown Camas. Antiquing was one of Lesley’s favorite hobbies, which also included garage sales, estate sales, gardening, listening to music, making wonderful meals, and spending time with her beloved pets. Lesley was a very strong woman who faced a myriad of health issues later on in life. Though she was on her own by this time, she had her girls to help navigate, even though they often felt they had no idea what they were doing. She pulled through so many major medical events, amazing everyone around her. Lesley was a wonderful grandmother to her grandson Sloane, and though her granddaughter Vaeda Louise, was born right before her death (and one day after her birthday), we know she would have adored her and loved her just the same. We are thankful for the short time they had together, and that they were able to meet. Lesley is survived by her daughters, Megan Giltz, and Kelsey Giltz. Her sons-in-law, Steven Hoppe and Greg Grant, grandchildren Sloane and Vaeda, her niece Jen Will-Thapa (and her husband Abhee, and children Liam and Orion), and her sister Janice. Megan and Kelsey would like to extend extra thanks to Lesley’s caretaker, Dorina, who always made sure she was comfortable and cared for, and to Megan’s boss, Cameron, and fellow colleagues at Holman’s Funeral Service, for taking Lesley into their care, and to the directors at Earth Funeral for making sure Lesley’s last wishes are met, and beautifully so. In Lesley’s memory, please find and take joy in the gentle pleasures of life. Take up gardening, or find purpose in keeping nature alive, get lost in a good antique shop, be silly and use a Southern accent when you go through the drive through, know that buying too many purses is always okay, embrace being fun and goofy, love animals and care for them, and whenever you hear a Kenny Loggins or Dan Fogelberg song, smile and think of her.
