Gloria Ann Pozniak died August 30 in her home in Corvallis at the age of 66 after living courageously with cancer. Gloria was born to Norbert and Ruth Pozniak and grew up near Chula Vista, California. After Norbert’s passing, Gloria and her mother and brother moved to Oregon, where they established Pozniak Pottery in Newport. After their mother's death, Gloria and her brother David moved Corvallis. Gloria and David created unique works of art as a team, taking Pozniak Pottery to art fairs in eastern Oregon and hosting open studio events in their home. In later years Gloria served as a caregiver and advocated for her brother as he suffered long term illnesses. Gloria’s artistry extended to all her endeavors, a source of connection with others and a means of living her values for self-sufficiency and low impact living. She followed her brother’s advice: “Do what you love. Paint. Garden. Share.” She raised most of her food in her backyard garden sanctuary. She loved nature, particularly the Oregon coast near Newport. Gloria was preceded in death by her father Norbert Pozniak, her mother Ruth Pozniak, and her brother David. She is survived by her Aunt Janet and Uncle Edward Beimborn and cousins Gerald Miller, Sally Promey, Holly Koppelberger, George Promenschenkel and Christine and Daniel Beimborn and a wonderful chosen family of friends and neighbors.

Leave the earth with beauty

Earth specializes in soil transformation, an environmentally-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. Over a 45-day process, we gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil. We then send this soil to our local conservation land where it’s used for restoration projects such as reforestation and nourishing challenged ecosystems.
