Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth Leaf - Earth

Girish Bajarang Andalkar, loving husband, father, uncle and friend passed away on February 17th, 2025 at the age of 75 in Palo Alto, California, due to pulmonary fibrosis. Girish was born December 2, 1949 in Pune, Maharashtra, India, moved to the United States in 1976, and ultimately settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, after marrying his beautiful Gauri in 1981. They had two daughters Shilpa (1982) and Krupa (1986). He attended College of Engineering Pune and Polytechnic Institute of New York and was a successful software engineer until he retired in 2011 at the age of 62. Girish was a thoughtful individual with a wide spectrum of interests. Early in his career he dedicated his personal time as an entrepreneur to his software business, created to help people with disabilities. He had varied artistic hobbies which began with sculpting in his teens and twenties, going on to win awards in Pune and Maharashtra for his creations. He immersed in Indian classical music, studied tabla for a time, and his family enjoyed his robust singing voice. He later took an interest in photography, especially portraiture. He enjoyed many different cuisines, often being ahead of the trends in his adventurousness with foods. He had an infectious love of travel visiting 46 nations and a great number of distinct sites within these countries. His thoughtfulness and artistry was additionally expressed in his homes through his collection of artwork as well as the fruit trees he planted of which many have enjoyed their bounty. His love of nature was apparent as he took daily 5 mile walks for over 10 years on his local nature preserve trail. Although he jokingly said he could not decide before "this life's physical form" between "a big house” and "a full head of hair”, thereby ultimately getting neither, he objectively did fairly well. He would regularly share with his daughters and wife how lucky and fortunate he felt about his life and his numerous experiences. The family will be holding a celebration of life for the friends of family of Girish on February 27, 2025 at 11:00 at Fremont Memorial Chapel (3723 Peralta Blvd.) In lieu of flowers, the family requests sharing of your memories with them or you may consider a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (EIN: 84-1558631) https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/PFFTribute/GirishAndalkar or Cure Blindness Project (EIN: 03-0362926) https://cureblindness.org/donate. Leave the earth with beauty

Earth specializes in soil transformation, an environmentally-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. Over a 45-day process, we gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil. We then send this soil to our local conservation land where it’s used for restoration projects such as reforestation and nourishing challenged ecosystems.
