David Charles Uhlig, the bravest man I’ve ever known, has put his wing suit on, ending his battle with Syringiomyelia and arachnoiditis. David was born in Omaha, Nebraska, where he spent the first 9 years of his life. The remainder of his childhood was spent in Tulsa Oklahoma, where he excelled in academics at Cascia Hall Preparatory School. He received his law degree from The University of Oklahoma, then set out for Denver, Colorado to practice Real Estate Law and to partake in skiing, kayaking, hiking, and cycling. David had high expectations, especially for himself. He was driven and goal oriented, he gave one hundred percent to every endeavor, whether it was work, play, or building friendships. In his short life, he singlehandedly built a solid and respected law firm, Summit 6 Legal. After his health began to fail, he packed up his beloved Bulldogs, Moe and Nugget and moved to Tucson, Arizona. He found new outdoor adventures that required less from him physically, becoming an expert on what filled the desert surrounding him. David especially enjoyed bird watching, star gazing, gardening, and breathtaking sunsets on the four acres homestead he referred to as Uhlig’s Last Stand. He was a friend and savior to those big and small as he helped many a tiny bird back to the nest. Aside from his bulldogs and his friends, David’s greatest love was his work, which he continued until the last month of his life. David spent his final weeks with his mother, his brother, and a parade of loyal friends who traveled across the country to say goodbye. He crossed over from his Tucson home while in the arms of his mother and his brother. David was survived by his mother, Michele McKenna, his brother, James Uhlig, his sister, Ashley Mayo, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a myriad of friends, whom he loved like brothers. A celebration of life will be held in Denver, Colorado in June of 2025. To receive details of the forthcoming celebration, please respond to mckenna.michele@yahoo.com or japauh@gmail.com.
