Carol Domench

CAROL ADOLPHINE DOMENCH 4-21-1944  to  2-17-2025 Carol was born in Kingsville, Texas in 1944 to Lena Ewing (Heller), a masters-level high school teacher, and Harry Ewing, a Navy Officer and Aviator, who trained pilots for the Navy. After World War II, the Ewing family moved to Stockton, California where Carol was raised with her brother Tom until she was a junior in high school. The family then moved to Fremont, California where Carol graduated. She then earned a Master of Music with a BA in Social Science and Anthropology from San Jose State University. Soon after, earning a Master in Counseling and Counseling Credential from Stanislaus State University, then a Psychologist degree from University of the Pacific. While in Washington, she became a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Carol paid for her education by working in a cannery, assembling parts in an IBM factory, and waitressing. She was hired by a junior high school in Morgan Hill to teach choir and counsel students and, a short time later, moved to Escalon, California to take a position as a counselor and choir teacher. In 1991, Carol moved with husband, John, and daughters, Jessica and Lynette, to Battle Ground, Washington. You might have seen Carol leading the kazoo band at Battle Ground and Amboy celebrations and parades. She played piano in the Lewis River Dixie Land Band.  She joined a clogging group so she could dance with her daughters. You might have seen her pick up a guitar and play silly songs to youngsters to let them know the world could be a welcoming place. Along with her husband, she taught a Grandparents Raising Grandkids education program. Carol was famously known as a caring and knowledgeable licensed school psychologist who would do whatever it took to help her students succeed. Carol was all about giving back to her community. But when at home, she could be found quilting, gardening, training dogs, playing piano at church, hosting mystery murder dinners, and working outside to tame the family gardens.  Carol was predeceased by her mother, father, and brother Tom. She is survived by her loving husband John, and daughters, Jessica (Bannon) Jones and Lynette Domench.
